Tea Party ala Christmas 2008

While away for Christmas at my in laws we had such a good relaxed holiday there for once. Normally it's running around for family get togethers, spending 3-4 hours on the road amongst Sydney traffic. This time, we took it so easy.

(The holiday started badly with a smashed windscreen and oil leaking... so we desperately needed a good time after that.)

And we did.

Here's a shot of a tea party setting I set out just to play with my camera. My MIL has spent years collecting antique gorgeous china and I dragged out some of her best :)

Kim's Kitchen Remodel ala Greentea Design & Kitchens

My sponsor, Greentea Design, did a fantastic job imho remodeling blogger friend Kim's kitchen.

Kim is one half co-owner of wildly popular blog Desire to Inspire and she moved into her own house in Canada and did a really good job with her then-kitchen. It went from this:





To this with the help of boyfriend Jeff and some good blogland suggestions:





(which is bloody awesome as it is since it was looking so cool and glowy)

And in Sept 08, Kim revealed a biggie: she scored a deal with greentea design & kitchens; in exchange for some extensive coverage on their work in her kitchen, she'd get a package of some awesome japanese-inspired kitchen cabinets.

This was the discussed plan:

Toy kitchen

I LOVE this toy kitchen. Pottery Barn Kids: The Gourmet Kitchen Collection .... it's sharp but of course, it's expensive and it's in the US.







So... I have been surfing around, trying to eBay a bargain of a toy kitchen for Hannah. In that surfing, I've encountered some share-worthy sites:

Crumb Catchers turned a cheap entertainment unit into a toy kitchen.




Jenny Ikea hacked an adorable unit.




Manda posted about her easy to do toy kitchen. By utilising a neglected 2 door cabinet and spending just $10, she's got this cute one for her lil ones:


Michele Beschen posted about how she created a set of gorgeously cute kitchen toy units on the DIY Network


My favourite has to be this. Virginia sends in to OhDeeDoh shots of her own Ikea hacked kitchen for her lil one.



I'm looking for a large one... maybe the husband and I could DIY a Kidkraft one...

Sherrill Canet Interiors

My previous post featured a green living room by Sherrill Canet Interiors. I clicked over to her site and I was drooling by the end of it. (Isn't it fantastic when interior designers are so confident of their work that the photos displayed are so large that we can really look at detail??)

New York designer Sherrill Canet has created such gorgeously elegant but sumptious rooms for her clients... man oh man. I especially love the mix of new and antiques, something that I myself strive for (not similar level of antiques, of course!!!!).

The ever fun Kim from Desire to Inspire has just let me in on her HOT NEW PROJECT!

She has managed to SCORE a deal with the fantastic Asian-inspired Kitchen Cabinets Designer, Greentea Design in Toronto to provide her with a Japanese-and-Chinese inspired kitchen in exchange to have an ad space on the wildly successfully internationally acclaimed Desire to Inspire blog!!!!!

I love antiques... love to have show-stopping pieces in every room... maybe the Persimmon Hutch for the kitchen. Or the Antique 3 Drawer Black Console in the living room. Maybe paint it lacquered red and leave the detail untouched... or something. :)
