Guest bedroom

It seems that most guest or B&B bedrooms I've been to in Australia (and a few in the US) feature many of the same things: frills, lace, floral vintage eiderdowns, heavy four poster beds, Aubusson-imitation rugs by every piece of furniture, dried flowers in floral vases, floral curtains... (all very toxic to a dust-allergic couple!).

Now that I have a room for guests and family visiting, my plan for the guest bedroom is vastly different:

After seeing this carefully edited, deceptively simple and uncluttered bedroom above by Ghislaine ViƱas, I've always wanted a guest bedroom in lush, fresh and sharp tones of green, black and white.

A while back there was a discussion in design blogland about how tacky imitations are and how one should strive for one own's interior delight. But I think there's a level of imitation that is acceptable, even laudable, especially when it's not the entire room imitated, but the feel, the colours, the shapes. The ideas.
